Lizzie Welborn | Australia
I am Lizzie Welborn and I am a 20 year old professional Surf Ironwoman from Sydney, Australia.
I qualified for my first professional ironwoman series in 2015 when I was 16 years old, making me one of the youngest women to ever qualify. I am currently competing in my 5th professional series and have claimed 8 podium finishes during this time. I have only had 1 series race win which was in 2016 during my second professional series. It was a triple M shaped endurance ironwoman race at Cronulla Beach. Winning this race was a highlight of my career so far. I have also been lucky enough to represent Australia multiple times in youth and open teams, which I am extremely grateful for. My dream is to claim a professional series win, as well as an open Australian ironwoman title.
Alongside ironwoman racing, I have also competed in prone paddle boarding races including the gruelling 52km Molokai 2 Oahu world paddle board championships in Hawaii. I have competed in the race 3 times now and have come second to Harrier Brown in every race. This year Harriet beat me by 45 seconds over a 5 hour race, which is one of the closest races I’ve ever had. I definitely have a goal to win this race one day but I truely love the challenge of trying to finish it.
